Company History

Fyfe Co.

Brief History

Mr. Edward Fyfe started the Fyfe Company in 1988 with the idea to strengthen deficient bridge columns in California using aerospace materials. Today, Mr. Fyfe is recognized around the world as the pioneer of the fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) structural strengthening industry with over 40 patents in the field. Because FRP is a generic term that can include surfboard materials, we distinguish our product line with the trademark TYFO®. The combination of the TYFO® fabrics with the TYFO® epoxies creates the Fibrwrap® Systems.

Since 1988, The TYFO® Products and Fibrwrap® Systems have been tested and proven for predictable structural performance and environmental durability. Thousands of structural and material tests, both destructive and non-destructive, have been performed on the TYFO® Fibrwrap® Systems. These include both full and large-scale structural testing for a variety of design goals, long-term environmental durability testing and in-situ testing of actual installations. The TYFO® Fibrwrap® Systems have been reviewed and approved by more independent authorities than any other supplier. The result is a reliable composite strengthening system with more approvals and more demonstrated and proven installations than any other company in the industry.
